I just finished Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides. I can't believe it took me so long to read this book!! It had been sitting on my shelf for as long as I can remember, but never picked it up. It actually makes me sad to think that this great piece of work was just sitting there. Waiting to be discovered. Now, I MUST read all of the other books that have been gathering dust. Actually my Author Challenge books are the mostly made up of older books that I have yet to read...unless I didn't have an older author with the letter that I needed, then I had to resort to newer works:)

Okay, I just finished Behind the Scenes at the Museum last night. It was good. It could have been better if I didn't have to keep stopping and starting (life gets in the way!)...which I hate to do. I was more interested in the "present" chapters than in the chapers taking place in the past. I kept getting lost with all of the characters, but Kate Atkinson does a great job weaving them all in to their rightful places.

Just finished The Family Tree by Carole Cadawalldr. I loved it. It's been a while since I've been entranced by a book, that it's so invigorating to feel it again! You fall in love with the main character. She is you. Her childhood is so real, you feel like it's literally you speaking and not Rebecca. Easily, the best book I've read this year!!

Just finished Sharp Obects by Jillian Flynn. Wow...it was very dark. This was one of the oddest books I've ever read. Now I know why Stephen King said it was his choice for the best book or 2006! Very strange indeed...but it was still a good read. The heroine (about 32) was anything but...she's flawed in every way imagable...from a self-inflicting cutter to alcoholic to even doing drugs with her 13-year old half-sister. You'll never read anything else like it.

Just finished The Blue Flower by Penelope Fitzgerald. Haaated It! i just don't know how it got so many great reviews??? Maybe the research involved? I dunno...it was hard to understand and follow....maybe I didn't pay attention enough or something.

Just finished Girls:A Novel, by Frederick Busch. This book was hard to follow for me. Because of the writing style, I found myself re-reading sentences and paragraphs just to get the tone right and really understand what he was talking about. I think the main character was supposed to be sarcastically witty, but it didn't get pulled off...and the wife, although going through a tragic pain..annoyed me. The book kinda annoyed me too.

I just finished Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See. This was a good read. It was hard not to be appauled by some of the thinking the women had back then, but then you realize that times were different. It was good, but not really good. It's hard to explain..but it kept my interest
